The icon of Istanbul on its Golden horn and its most famous landmarks, the Hagia Sophia is the most charming museum of religions in the whole world. 

The history of the construction of Hagia Sophia dates back to the 6th century AD, where the Byzantine Emperor Gestion gave the order of the construction of a church on the ruins of a Roman cathedral and which was named Hagia Sophia which means the “Divine wisdom” , and it remained so until the advent of the Ottoman era, where Sultan Mehmed II converted it into a mosque and ordered the construction of minarets while maintaining the Christian identity and monuments and only cover them instead of removing them. 

At the beginning of the twentieth century, with the founding of the Turkish Republic by Kemal Ataturk, Hagia Sophia was transformed into a museum of religions, and it remained as well to this day. 

Hagia Sophia is one of the #most important tourist attractions in Istanbul and is one of the most beautiful buildings in terms of architectural design of the Byzantine exterior with Ottoman minarets, and on the one hand mating the various architecture and religious decorations, which combine photography with Christianity and the beauty of Arabic calligraphy in the writing of Quranic verses and religious phrases in Islamic religion inside the building. 

Perhaps this unique and charming mix is the most important characteristic of Hagia Sophia in the eyes of history and civilizations lovers, in addition to all of that there are many important monuments, which date back to different eras and are all considered priceless historical treasures.
